OK, not the best picture ever, but inside the Calgary Science Centre we see Microsoft's contribution to children's education, the blue screen of death.

Calgary's light-rail transit system, the C-Train, runs through various parts of the city, including right through the downtown core (as it should). One feature I liked is the "vehicle trap" for keeping cars off the transit-only sections of streets. See the blow-up of the sign at left. Toronto needs these in a big way. The trains' purple and light blue paint scheme has got to go, however.

Another interesting sign, this time in a somewhat inhospitably landscaped "park" between office towers. All that lovely greenspace, with fountains and trees, must be passively enjoyed. No game playing!
![[ +15 Sign ]](http://www.mckie.ca/calgary02/calgary11.jpg)
I'll admit to being a bit slow on the uptake with the +15 in downtown Calgary. All over the place I notice these signs near doors that appear to depict a cowboy and the letters +15, which holds no obvious meaning to the uninitiated. In parallel, I noticed that the downtown core has a boatload of pedestrian bridges between buildings. As it turns out, these are not unrelated observations. Calgary's downtown is connected by an aboveground indoor network of walkways called +15, much like the undergound PATH system in downtown Toronto, only it's 15 feet above ground level, hence the name.
