San Francisco has a rather prominent Chinatown. It's no Chinacity (long story), but it'll do.




Some seriously good advice.




The Savoy Tivoli is apparently a pretty happening pub to the north of downtown, but I only took a picture because it stands out with its paint job.




Contrary to popular belief, Pier 39 is not a pedestrian bridge over a roadway. That's just a sign. Pier 39 is a concentrated area of purveyors of tourism-focused crap. But it's also where they sell tickets for the boatride to Alcatraz.




I found this reminiscent of the Covent Garden bungee ride from my recent visit to London, except that this guy was particular bad at it. He never got any higher than this, I kid you not.




After I'd bought my ticket for the next day's ride out to Alcatraz, I spent a moment on the part of Pier 39 that is actually a Pier and not a tourist trap.




OK, I take it back. The whole thing is a tourist trap. I feel badly for Mr. Coon, spending his days sitting there to be gawked at just because he broke some laws and went to a notorious prison.
