I don't think I would have risked swimming in the rowing basin, but I can understand why they'd do it.




Did I mention it was hot (yes, yes I did) - the fire department thoughtfully provided a mister (at the back) and a hose for cooling off the crowds.




Cat took advantage of their generous offer to have her feet hosed off. Although I missed the most pivotal moment, she seems happy.




The island where the track is located is a park for most of the year, and the scenery is actually pretty nice. If you look really closely, you can see thousands of people streaming across the bridge towards the Metro station....




... here they are! We had to wait a very long time to make out way to the Metro station. You can pretty much expect that with 100,000+ people all going through a single entrance to a single subway station.
