By the end of the third period, the hometown crowd was getting noisy again, but not in a good way. The guy in the glasses on the right was heckling the Nashville players for a few minutes right at the end of the game, and you can see Vernon Fiddler playing along in a fairly goodnatured manner with some celebratory fist pumps as he assures the fans that his team will make the playoffs.




I never heard any hurtful words spoken between the drunk guy and the players on the bench, but one of the Nashville players (Jerred Smithson) was definitely the first to open fire -- he squirted water through the gap in the glass at the drunk guy, who returned fire by dumping his beer over the glass. Right then the horn sounded and everyone left anyway.




After the game we met up with Sean Fitz-Gerald, a sports writer for the National Post who was in town to cover the next day's Columbus/Toronto soccer game, the first of the season for Toronto FC.




There were a lot of TFC fans in town that night, and many more to come the next morning, and they made their presence felt. The second bar we went to that night was full of TFC fans, including at least one armed with stickers.




Unsurprisingly, James was a master at the table hockey game.
