Domini recommended a Mexican fast-food place in Santa Cruz, so I stopped and had lunch there. That's my rental "car" in the foreground -- it was really busy when I showed up at the rental place and I think they were basically giving people any kind of vehicle they had.

Hey, that's a boatload of, uh, boats. Right across from the scenic coastal gem known as...


[ Industrial plant ]

...a big ugly industrial plant. I think it was some kind of power plant.


[ Carmel ]

Some parts of the coastal highway pass through developed towns where the privately owned waterfronts push the road further inland. This is passing through Carmel-by-the-Sea, where Clint Eastwood was mayor for a bit.

The cows in Ontario don't get nice views like this.

It's really hard taking pictures with people in them in an area where there are more cows than people. I am confident, however, that cows are even worse at taking self-portraits than I am.
