Emma spotted this counterintuitive storefront: the "San Francisco tradition" is "Boston style subs"?




Despite the MUNI debacle we eventually met up with Kajal and she took us for a drive over the Golden Gate Bridge to the Marin headlands and the Golden Gate national recreation area.




Guess who was better prepared for the little hike that was about to ensue? Neither Emma nor I had actually brought appropriate hiking attire, so we made do with some casual clothes and a liberal dose of sunscreen as we'd be outside for the better part of the day in the continuing gorgeous weather. Kajal's smiling because she knows how much further we have yet to go.




This view was a promise of views to come, but in retrospect I wish I'd paid more attention to the gentleman passed out on the left.
