We took a photo break when the fog started lifting as we neared the border with California.




Letting Morgan out was a possibility, but it pretty much guaranteed a battle over ever going back into the car. Nonetheless, she seemed happy to finally get a good blast of sea air.




We made it to our next overnight stop, at Crescent City just inside the California border, just before dark. The hotel we stayed at didn't have a crib for Morgan, so we got a double bed room and put one of the mattresses on the floor for her. She seemed to like it.




The next morning, we took Morgan down to the water for some quality time with the (very cold) Pacific.




The beach stretched for miles in both directions, and there was no one there in the cool morning. I brought her right to the edge of the water so she could touch it, just as we did with her at the Atlantic in Halifax.




We drove through California's impressive redwood forests for much of that day, and the lingering coastal fog combined with the narrow winding roads through the trees made for some great sights that weren't particularly easy to capture with a camera.
