The next morning I got up pretty damn early to catch the train into the city and the Tube out to Heathrow. I wanted to take a chance to illustrate how much smaller London subway cars are compared to TTC cars, which are actually rather large compared to most subway systems.

It was kind of soggy when I left Heathrow, and I was assured it would rain plenty in Munich too.

In case you're interested, this is what Heathrow looks like from the air. I'd be back again.

My final impressions of Britain: too many smokers, and who does the Daily Telegraph think it's helping by listing the standings for just three of the six NHL divisions? How on earth do they decide which three to include?

It's kind of hard to see, but in this shot right before landing in Munich, you can almost make out the beginning of the Alps along the horizon. Given that Italy is just on the other side of the Alps, it felt tantalizingly close given that I'd have to go back through London later in my trip.
