After dinner we went down to the harbour for a two-hour fjord tour (we declined the three-hour tour on grounds of bad karma. This is our tourboat, which carries the awesome name of the company, Batservice.




It took us a few minutes to figure out what this sign on the boat was trying to tell us. Sure, we know now it means it's an emergency gathering point. But we had a lot of really excellent alternative suggestions, such as 'huddle together when the little green men come.'




The boat itself was actually kind of nice inside, with lots of wood. Wood floats! Perfect.




What wasn't perfect was the weather. They kept having to wipe the condensation off the insides of the windows so that we could see out. But we couldn't see all that well because of the rain on the outside of the windows.




The Oslo fjord is full of islands with summer homes, and the water is covered in boats of all kinds. Given how many thousands of boats we saw, and the population of the city, we figured there might even be a boat for every household. Those Norwegians are seriously nautical folks.
