During the game, an older woman came and sat down next to me. She was one of those
people who comes across as drunk even when they haven't had too much to drink. She
told me all about her sister and niece, who are both apparently Olympic skiers, so I'm
supposed to keep an eye out for a mother/daughter ski duo in the next winter Olympics.
Not surprisingly, she told me a story about being pulled over for DUI (and protested
innocence, of course). She also told me she hates Canadians.

I have to tell you, the ball girls on the foul lines at Safeco Field are way cuter than
the ball boys at SkyDome.

Seattle lost the game. (If you're keeping score, they lose just as much as the Jays - ouch.)
![[ Closing the roof
]](seattle128.jpg)
As I was leaving the game, they started closing the roof, which was an interesting process
for someone who used to spend a lot of time watching the SkyDome roof open and close
from his office window. (Note to Globe co-workers: I'm sure I was reading some
important document while I was doing that!)
I find the building kind of interesting in that the sliding roof does not actually seal the
building at all. Also, the whole thing is made up of a lot of different shapes and materials,
as if somehow six different architects were given different parts to design.
