On the way out of the harbour, heading towards open water, we passed a Navy reserve ship doing some kind of exercises that seemed to consist chiefly of driving around in circles. (You should click on the link if you have time, and check out the ship's motto. It was clearly chosen by the shipyard!)

We were going to be visiting a pod of orcas on this excursion, and our guide was careful to explain the many features that can be used to distinguish one from another. Mind you, it was hopelessly unrealistic to expect us to know what we were looking at...
